The Chairman of the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) Stoil Alipiev on Wednesday briefed the members of the parliamentary Subcommittee on monitoring consumer protection activities and restriction of monopolies on the inspections carried out by the control body in tourist sites and persons offering tourist services in the period from January 2023 to March 31, 2024. In addition to the chairman, the subcommittee was also attended by Ignat Arsenov General Directorate for Market Control at the CPC.

The total number of inspections carried out in the said period was 6,785, of which on-site inspections numbered 5,854 and documentary inspections carried out were 931, according to the data provided by Alipiev. 

The total number of acts issued amounted to 885 and the penalties imposed during the period amounted to almost BGN 600,000. The money collected so far on fines imposed is nearly BGN 354,000. Of these, almost 10% were collected compulsorily with the help of the National Revenue Agency, according to the report presented by Alipiev.

The CPC's inspection activity for 2024, covering the months from January to the end of March, included 1,394 inspections, of which 1,269 establishments were inspected. The number of acts issued is 208, and 56 punitive decrees have been issued so far, according to the data provided by Stoil Alipiev.

Following alerts and complaints received from consumers during the period, 155 inspections were carried out, with 44 acts issued.
