An increase in the number of unemployed people who found jobs with the assistance of the labour offices was reported by the Employment Agency on Monday. In March they totaled 14,205, which was 1,721 more than in the previous month. During the month, 378 pensioners, students and employees also found jobs with the support of the labour offices.

A total of 317 representatives of groups at risk found employment in March through subsidized jobs. Thirty-four under employment programmes and measures and 283 under projects of Bulgaria’s Human Resources Development operational programme.

The level of registered unemployment in the country was 5.77% (as a share of registered unemployed persons in the economically active population aged 15-64, as recorded in the 2021 Census) which marks a monthly decrease of 0.07 percentage points. The number of registered unemployed people at the end of the month totaled 163,635, a decrease of 1,950 persons compared to last month.

During the month, 19,946 new unemployed persons registered at the labour offices - a minimal increase (0.2%) compared to February.

The number of vacancies on the primary market reported to the labour offices increased – 14,706 in March compared to 10,494 in the previous month. In the real economy, the largest number of vacancies were recorded in hotels and restaurants (30.2%), manufacturing (17.6%), trade (8.9%), public administration (7.8%), followed by agriculture, forestry and fishing (7.8%) and education (4.8%).

The most demanded occupations by businesses in March were: personal service workers, salespersons, agricultural, forestry, and fishery workers, drivers of motor vehicles and mobile equipment, refuse collectors, personal care workers, workers in mining and manufacturing, construction, and transportation, as well as kitchen helpers.
