The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy (MLSP) on Monday hosted a roundtable on labour market developments in Bulgaria and their effect on the labour mobility of Bulgarians in the EU. European Labour Authority Executive Director Cosmin Boiangiu, MLSP Minister Ivanka Shalapatova, government agency officials, trade unionists and employers took part in the event.

Shalapatova said that, to ensure that labour mobility in the EU is fair, the following conditions should be in place: good communication and coordination between the competent services in the member states, effective social dialogue, joint actions, knowledge about common EU law and support for its effective implementation, regardless of the specific aspects of national law.

According to Boiangiu, labour shortages and the employment of third-country workers are among the matters which should be the focus of attention. He proposed considering incentives for Bulgarians working in other parts of the EU to return to their home country.
