The government has adopted a decision proposing that the National Assembly ratify the International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions No. 155 and No. 187 concerning safety and health at work. This will ensure that national law and practice in Bulgaria in ensuring occupational safety and health is in line with established international standards.

It is expected that the ratification of the Conventions will contribute to the development and continuous improvement of safe and healthy working conditions, which are a key factor in improving the quality and safety of work as well as the sustainability and competitiveness of the economy.

Bulgaria has been a member of the ILO since its inception and is among the countries that has ratified most of its instruments. Therefore, the ratification of the two Conventions will further enhance Bulgaria's international image as a country that complies with core international labour standards and is committed to the work of the ILO.
