At the Annual Review Meeting of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) for 2022 taking place in Brussels, the managing authority of the Bulgarian Maritime and Fisheries Programme 2014-2020 (BMFP) presented the results of the implementation of the programming period 2014-2020 and the progress of the actions taken during the current year.

Under the four procedures under BMFP 2014-2020 for providing compensation for the consequences of the war in Ukraine, 144 project proposals were approved and contracts worth a total of 3 million euros were concluded. The first concluded contracts have already submitted requests for payment and the first compensations are yet to be paid, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Deyan Stratev. He added that before the end of the year, applications will be open regarding compensation for the consequences of the war in Ukraine and for 2023. The envisaged budget is in the amount of BGN 12.3 million.

"We have analyzed the areas that need improvement and have made every effort to implement the Maritime and Fisheries Programme 2014-2020. With the experience we have from the previous two programming periods, we are working towards a more successful implementation of the Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund 2021-2027," explained Deputy Minister Stratev.
