The protest of energy workers and miners on the Struma motorway near Dupnitsa continues, Ivailo Dimitrov, a representative of the Bobov Dol thermal power plant’s trade unions, told BTA on Wednesday. Dimitrov was headed for Sofia, where he would follow the National Assembly’s sitting discussing a draft decision on the approval of the agreement between the Prime Minister, representatives of the Council of Ministers, MPs, and representatives of trade unions in the energy sector, signed on Tuesday

“We were assured by the main parties in Parliament that the agreement would be signed as it was approved on Tuesday. If this does not happen, we will carry on with the protest,” Dimitrov said. He added that if the private mines and thermal power plants are removed from the agreement, the protest on the Struma motorway will continue.

“Should the items that directly concern us be dropped, we will remain on the motorway,” Dimitrov said, making clear that whether the road blockade will continue depends on Parliament’s decision.
