In 2022, the total number of retirees with State Social Insurance pensions is 97,590 or 10.6% more than in 2021, said the National Social Insurance Institute Wednesday in its bulletin. It contains 24 pages and gives detailed explanations on the application of the new legislation to invalidity pensions.

In 2022, a total of 81,431 retirees received personal pensions, an increase of 11.6% on the previous year. Inheritance pensions were received by 16,159 people. Personal retirement pensions were granted to 52,884 persons, or 64.9% of all retirees with personal pensions (in 2021 this percentage was 66.3%). Compared to 2021, there is an increase in the number of newly granted retirement pensions by 4,526 (9.4%).

In 2022, a total of 2,803 occupational incidents were reported to the Institute. Of these, 2,582 were accepted as accidents at work, 2,141 of which occurred at the workplace and 441 when going to or returning from work. There were 84 fatal accidents of which 10 involved women. Calendar days lost from workplace accidents totaled 173,731, the Institute noted.

Countering attempts to misuse state social insurance funds remains a priority for the Institute. The department informed that the experts from the territorial division in Razgrad have detected fraudulent schemes related to drawing up of false documents, fictitious insurance, etc.
