A European Commission (EC) proposal for EUR 56.3 million of support for farmers affected by the increased imports of cereals and oilseeds was presented by EU Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski at a meeting of EU Agriculture Ministers on Monday, as EUR 16.7 million are planned to be distributed to Bulgaria. The aid will be funded from the agricultural reserve and is expected to compensate the farmers for their economic losses and limit the impact of market imbalances on their planting decisions, the Commission said.
