site.btaDeputy Tourism Minister Georgieva Participates in European Travel Commission Board of Directors’ 107th Meeting
Deputy Tourism Minister Irena Georgieva participated in the 107th meeting of the European Travel Commission’s (ETC) Board of Directors, her ministry said Thursday. The event was held in Malta and was launched with an openeing speech by Malta’s Minister of Tourism, Clayton Bartolo.
Policies on tourism and climate change were discussed at the meeting, which focused on the deepening of the relationship between the ETC and the European Commission. The drafting of an action plan to combat climate change and its consequences will be among the first joint initiatives on which the two institutions will work.
The European Travel Commission has committed to assist Member States in implementing the plan to support the tourism industry. Deputy Minister Georgieva supported the idea and said that Bulgaria appreciates the efforts and will be part of the joint project for more sustainable tourism.
