Preliminary seasonally adjusted data for June 2022 show that the turnover in retail trade, except motor vehicles and motorcycles, at constant prices decreased by 1.4% compared to May, the National Statistical Institute said. In June 2022, the calendar adjusted turnover in retail trade, except motor vehicles and motorcycles, was unchanged from a year earlier.

A drop in the retail sale of non-food products (except fuel) was registered in June compared to May in the retail sale of computers, peripheral units and software; telecommunications equipment by 6.1% and in retail sale via mail order houses or via the internet by 3.1%. A more tangible increase, by 3.9%, was reported for the retail sale of textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods. The retail sale in non-specialized stores rose by 1.1%.

In June 2022, compared to June 2021, turnover increased in all major groups: the retail sale of automotive fuel in specialized stores by 3.3% and the retail sale of non-food products (except fuel) by 1.3%. A decrease was registered in the retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco by 3.1%.

Compared to June 2021, the retail sale of non-food products (except fuel) saw an increase in the retail sale of textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods by 24.1%, retail sale in non-specialized stores by 11.2% and retail sale via mail order houses or via internet by 8.9%. Turnover decreased considerably, by 4.1%, in the retail sale of audio and video equipment; hardware, paints and glass; electrical household appliances.
