The Customs Agency's revenues in May 2022 amounted to 1,127.1 million leva, going up by 31.4% compared with May 2021, the Agency said in a press release on Friday. The biggest growth is reported in revenue from value added tax (VAT) on imports from third countries. 

March 2022 VAT revenues from VAT on import were 602.8 million leva, increasing by 66.7% compared with May 2021. VAT revenues again hit a monthly historical high. 

Monthly customs duty revenues stood at 35.6 million leva, growing by 84.5%, year on year.

Cash revenues from excise duties amounted to 488.4 million leva, increasing by 12.3 million leva from the like month a year ago. 

Between January and May 2022, the Customs Agency's revenues from excise duties, VAT at import, customs duties and fines totalled 5.070 billion leva. The Customs Agency's total revenues in June 2022 are expected to increase by 35% year on year.
