site.btaStefan Valdobrev's Acoustics of Bulgaria to Kick Off in Varna

Actor and musician Stefan Valdobrev is kicking off recordings and filming for his new project The Acoustics of Bulgaria, starting in Varna, said Valdobrev at the Bulgarian News Agency’s (BTA) Press Club here on Thursday. Together with his band The Usual Suspects, Valdobrev will record music and ambient sounds and film a documentary at 25 emotionally chosen locations across the country.
The first sessions will take place at the salt production site Solnitsata and Ovech fortress in Provadia, the Roman baths in Varna, the Balchik palace, and the Tekke in Obrochishte.
The aim of the project is to capture the unique atmosphere of each site. Individual instrumental and vocal parts will be recorded outdoors, later mixed into a double album accompanied by a photo book with original texts.
“I want the songs to be personal and genuine. If people like them afterward, they’re free to use them,” said Valdobrev. He is working with Ivan Lechev, Miroslav Ivanov, Stoyan Yankoulov-Stundji, Veselin Veselinov-Eko, sound engineer Dimitar Ganchev, and cinematographers Krum Rodriguez and Veselin Hristov.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture, BTA, and BG Radio.
