Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil attended a ceremony marking the BTA's 127th birthday Sunday. His Holiness, who is also Metropolitan of Sofia, blessed the renovations at the agency, including the newsroom, a new Archive Hub, the library and new archive repositories. "Let us mark this important anniversary for the Bulgarian News Agency with all that you have presented and with your willingness to turn and receive God's blessing on this day," the Patriarch said.

"Every birthday represents for us a renewal, an updating. And what better celebration that on this 127th anniversary of the publication of the first BTA bulletin we can actually see and witness a serious renewal," he noted. All these new things also speak of a new approach, a renewal in the content of the news, Patriarch Daniil added.

The presence of BTA journalists at almost every event, which happens especially in small towns and villages, tells these people that they are not forgotten. That there is someone to pay attention to them. And indeed, one notices this new approach, that information should not be impersonal, because the Word lies at the heart of news, he added, the purpose of the Word is to gather, to bring together, to unite.

His Holiness thanked BTA Director General Kiril Valchev for these achievements, blessing him, all BTA staffers and "all those whom the information broadcast by BTA reaches."

"I wish many blessed years to the Bulgarian News Agency and to all employees and readers to know that besides mass media, there are other means, such as prayer, which prayer reaches God and He can intervene where there is a need, so let everything be for your benefit and for your readers. May God keep you and help you for years to come," the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil said.
