site.btaSofia Philharmonic Debutes at Concertgebouw

The Sofia Philharmonic made its debut at the prestigious concert hall Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, said the Philharmonic. Conducted by Maestro Nayden Todorov, the Philharmonic  presented The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto by He Zhanhao and Chen Gang,  Piano and Orchestra Concerto No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Symphony No. 9 by Antonin Dvorak.

The evening's soloists were 11-year-old violinist Sherry Tse and pianist Shiran Wang.

The completely sold-out gave a standing ovation at the end of the concert, commented the Philharmonic. The audience included Bulgaria's Aambassador to The Hague Konstantin Dimitrov and his wife, as well as employees of the mission, Bulgarians living in the Netherlands, including principal trumpet player of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam Miroslav Petkov, music managers and several conductors with whom the Sofia Philharmonic has worked in recent years. All of them congratulated maestro Todorov for the emotional and virtuoso performance.

The Philharmonic's next symphony concert is in Bulgaria Hall in Sofia on October 14 with world-renowned violinist Joshua Bell, followed by performance in Thessaloniki at the invitation of the Director of the Thessaloniki Symphony Orchestra.
