Italian artist Attilio Taverna will hold a conference dedicated to abstract art and the theories of Bulgarian art historian and critic Dora Vallier (1921 – 1997) here on July 24. Titled "A Brief Exposition of Dora Vallier's Theoretical Thought on Abstract Art", the event will take place at Sredets Gallery, which hosts Taverna’s exhibition "Abstracta", the organizers said.

The conference will be conducted in Italian with consecutive interpreting into Bulgarian. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required, the organizers added.

"Dora Vallier changed my life," the Italian artist told BTA. He presented an exhibition of abstract paintings in Sofia in late June, paying tribute to Dora Uvalieva, who became internationally recognized as Dora Vallier. The exhibition was initially scheduled to run until July 17 and was later extended to July 30. "I believe that I am culturally indebted to Dora Vallier, and this duty has brought me here to put on this exhibition and to talk about her," Taverna added.
