Flamenco dancer and choreographer Eduardo Guerrero is again a guest of the Varna Summer International Theatre Festival, the festival's organizers said. He will present the show "Sea Lighthouse", which he directed together with Javier Ibanez.

The audience will hear original songs by Juan Manuel Serrat, Horacio Garcia, Felix Luna, and Ariel Ramirez as well as popular songs inspired by the image of the lighthouse. The stage work presents different styles of flamenco and is inspired by the poetic image of the lighthouse, bringing the idea of storms and battles, of goodbyes and happy reunions, of beautiful dawns and nostalgic sunsets.

Guerrero says he has always wanted to create a show about the sights in his native land, where there is a beautiful lighthouse that spins and illuminates the Spanish city of Cadiz. The idea came to fruition after an offer to do a tour in which performances are given at all the lighthouses of Spain. The choreographer decided to work with artists from his hometown of Cadiz, with whom he chose songs that had a connection to the sea. "It is a show that traditionally presents the truth of flamenco, but with new nuances that stand out in the way I dance and express what I feel," says the performer.

Guerrero doesn't consider his dance form to be contemporary, but simply current, because flamenco comes from a bygone era and it is impossible for current artists to dance like they used to. "We want to express ourselves as we are, create a personal language and take dance to the most important places in the world so people can enjoy it and realize how this art continues to grow and evolve," he says.

Eduardo Guerrero has been dancing flamenco since the age of six. He studied at the  Dance Conservatory of Cadiz and then expanded his knowledge of contemporary and classical dance. Since 2002 he has performed in shows by some of the most important flamenco artists in Spain such as Antonio Canales, Eva Yerbabuena, and Aida Gomez. He has received prestigious awards. Since 2011 he has been touring with his own shows. He first performed at  Varna Summer International Theatre Festival in 2017.
