Nearly BGN 8 Mln to Be Invested in Modernization of NATFA and Eight Other Bulgarian Theatres

Nearly BGN eight million (BGN 7,812,850) will be invested in the modernization of the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) and eight other Bulgarian theatres as part of a project to support the performing arts. The project was presented on Friday at NATFA by Mariana Hristova from the Regional Information Centre - Sofia, consultant for the project.

The largest sum for technical equipment is for the Ivan Radoev Drama and Puppet Theatre in Pleven - BGN 3,640,000, and for the N. O. Masalitinov Drama Theatre in Plovdiv - BGN 1,245,000. Some BGN 390,000 are earmarked for NATFA, BGN 604,000 for the Bulgarian Army Theatre, BGN 437,000 for the Aleko Konstantinov State Satirical Theatre, BGN 271,000 for the Lovech Drama Theatre, BGN 307,000 for the Lyubomir Kabakchiev Theatre in Kazanlak, BGN 380,000 for the Konstantin Kisimov Music and Drama Theatre in Veliko Tarnovo, and BGN 394,000 for the Drama Theatre in Targovishte.

The implementation of the projects is expected to start within two months. Each applicant will receive a separate contract with the operational programme and then will implement the project on its own, Mariana Hristova told BTA. The implementation period is two years. NATFA is a leading partner in the project.

Caretaker Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov, who was present at the presentation, said that the project will be the foundation of the future of performing arts in Bulgaria.

Hristo Mutafchiev, President of the Union of Bulgarian Actors, said that the main part of the work of such a project, besides modern equipment of all these stage spaces, is to successfully raise the qualification of those working with the equipment.
