The Bulgarian pop music duo Argirov Brothers will celebrate their 40th anniversary on stage with a concert in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) on April 23, the organizers announce. Hristo Stoichkov will be among the special guests at the event. The concert, marking the duo's birthday, features the orchestra of the State Opera in Ruse, conducted by Dimitar Kosev, as well as soloists from the opera.

The Argirov Brothers' tour began in March in Burgas with special guest Toni Dimitrova, then continued in Dobrich and Varna.

With the upcoming concert in NDK, a duo’s dream is coming true, the artists said. Toni Dimitrova, another household name on the Bulgarian pop music scene, and football legend Hristo Stoichkov will take the stage with the brothers.

Blagovest and Svetoslav Argirov, or Argirov Brothers, are twins, born on April 23, 1959, in the southern city of Plovdiv. They graduated from the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov Music Academy and the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts Plovdiv, but with different majors. Blagovest plays the cello and Svetoslav - the piano.

Their first Bulgarian National Radio recording, Unnecessary, (a cover version of the song Illussion by the band Imagination, in late 1982) quickly became a hit and made them popular. In 1983 they released their first full-length record Girl for Two, which sold over 400,000 copies.

They sang music written by Toncho Rusev, Zornitsa Popova, Ivan Peev, Alexander Yossifov, Atanas Kosev, Stefan Dimitrov, Naiden Andreev and other famous composers and musicians.

A book about the duо's history, It’s Just Two of Us, was published in 2022, with radio presenter Yordan Georgiev as co-author. In the same year, after a 20-year hiatus, a CD (As We Love You) was released for the duo's 40th anniversary. It includes 13 songs, some of them in duets with Rositsa Kirilova, Toni Dimitrova, duet Mania, Donny, Stefan Valdobrev, B.T.R. and Alexander Kadiev.
