The fantasy thriller Rozara's Trial by Bulgarian writer Nikola Chalakov was published in the US by Of Metal and Magic Publishing. Originally written in Bulgarian, the novel was translated by the author himself, the publisher said on their website.
Rozara's Trial release on the Bulgarian market in 2019 (Paradox Publishing) won readers with its unobtrusive style, with characters who enchant with their aspirations, love, triumphs and failures, adventures and exciting destinies and live in a world full of imagination. It has established itself as one of the most successful Bulgarian fantasy novels, Paradox notes.
Nikola Chalakov was born in Sofia in 1981. He holds a master's degree in American and British Studies from New Bulgarian University, and another master's degree, in national security, from the Academy of the Ministry of Interior in Sofia. He is fluent in French and English and when he is not writing, he translates professionally from and to these two languages.
Chalakov is the author of one more novel that has elicited many positive reviews, The Iron Scepter (2000), as well as a short story collection, The Circle of Moonlight (Paradox, 2021).
In 2021 Nikola Chalakov was nominated for the Albena 2021 National Literary Competition Award for his short story A Magical Gift. In 2022, his story The Exile was published in English in the fantasy anthology Fable of Redemption Reclaimed by Of Metal and Magic Publishing.
Due to keen reader interest, the author is preparing a second edition of Rozara’s Trial in English, which will be released at the end of this year.
