The 13th edition of the March of Books campaign organized by the Bulgarian Book Association was launched here on Tuesday. The campaign aims to promote early childhood reading and interest in literature among children of all ages.
Vice President Iliana Iotova, who spoke at the official opening, said that books will never die, as they will always be precious things present in our homes and libraries. According to Iotova, parents should strive to raise their children to be good people and free on the inside.
Desislava Aleksieva, Chair of the Board of the Bulgarian Book Association, said that every adult sooner or later goes back to reading fairy tales again, either as a parent or in their pursuit to become wiser.
The March of Books has been taking place every year between April 2 and 23 since 2011. Its start, April 2, is also Hans Christian Andersen's birthday and the International Children's Book Day. At the end of the campaign, which also marks the World Book and Copyright Day, the Bulgarian Book Association presents its Knight of the Book Awards.
