A classical concert by world-class Bulgarian musicians on Sunday gathered hundreds of guests in the Historical Museum in Kazanlak, said the organizers. The quintet consisted of Angelina Abadzhieva (violin), Kremena Oksenkrug (violin), Rumen Tsvetkov (viola), Alexander Somov (cello) and Nadejda Tzanova (piano). The virtuosos brought the audience to their feet and received a standing ovation.

Tzanova, who was born is Kazanlak, called the quintet a dream team and defined the works as large-scale and titanic. She explained that these were some of the most beautiful chamber works written for such a composition. Tzanova is a concert solo pianist with a number of performances in Europe, the USA and Asia. In 2022, she won an award at the Bulgarian National Radio for Musician of the Year competition.

Violinist Arabadzhieva was a laureate of the Paganini competition in Genoa and concertmaster of the Philharmonic in Cologne. She also worked as a concertmaster at the Mainz Theatre, the Metropole Theater in Berlin and the WDR radio in Cologne, where she was invited to join the Golden Radio Fund, recording as a soloist with a radio orchestra.

Oksenkrug is a violin professor at the Royal Conservatoire in Mons in Belgium, with an active concert activity throughout Europe. Since 2021, she has been working as the Director of the Sliven Symphony Orchestra, for which she has won an award and was named Musical Manager of the Year in 2022.

Tsvetkov is the solo viola of the Symphony Orchestra of the Spanish Royal Opera in Valencia, at the personal invitation of one of the most distinguished conductors in the world, maestro Zubin Meta. He is a viola professor at conservatories in Spain and the Netherlands, as well as at the New Bulgarian University in Sofia.

Somov is regularly invited as guest conductor of the cellos at the London Philharmonic, and is currently solo cellist of the Strasbourg Philharmonic and professor at the Strasbourg Academy. He has performed on world stages, such as in London in 1998, when he became the first Eastern European winner of the Guildhall School Gold Medal. He holds master classes in Sofia, Strasbourg, Ringamala (Sweden) and Flint (France).
