site.btaTheatre Premieres in Sofia: 2023 in Numbers

There were around 170 theatre premieres in Sofia in 2023, a check by BTA shows. They were held at nearly 20 places on some 40 stages. 

Nearly half of the new plays were staged by state and municipal theatres, the highest number of them at the Satire Theatre (14), followed by the Youth Theatre (9) and the National Theatre (8). The lowest number were staged at Vazrajdane Theatre and Sofia Theatre (3 each). There were between 8 and 12 premieres on average at Little City Theatre Off The Channel, Yalta Art Room, Salza I Smyah, I Am Studio, and New Theatre NDK. 

Guest premieres were held predominantly at open-air stages, such as City Mark (around 30) and Toplocentrala (24).
