site.bta9th Pleven Guitar Fest Brings over 160 Participants from Across Europe to Bulgaria

The 9th Pleven Guitar Fest will take place in Pleven (Northern Bulgaria) on December 7-10, the event’s artistic director, Nikolay Mihaylov, told BTA. Some 130 participants from Bulgaria, Belgium, UK, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, France and Switzerland are enrolled in the competition programme.

Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra and soloists Antoine Guerrero and Georgi Dimitrov - Jojo, under the baton of Viliana Valtcheva, will open the programme with a performance on December 7.

The concert programme will continute on December 8 with a performance from Bozhana Pavlova (guitar) and Zornitsa Ilarionova (violin). A concert by the guitar duo Magdalena Kaltcheva and Teodor Grozdanov will take place on December 9. The closing concert of the winners of the competition is planned for December 10.

There will also be an accompanying programme to the festival which will take place over three evenings with performances by Zero One (electronic music) and guitarist Stefanos Dimitriou, Ilin Papazyan – Ninio, as well as guitarist Kostadin Shotev, obo player Dimitar Milushev and poet Vesela Dimova.

The festival programme will also feature master classes. An exhibition of musical products is also prepared and will be on display immediately before the concert evenings.
