site.btaAnel Gallery Hosts Exhibition Dedicated to Georgi Chapkanov's 80th Anniversary

An exhibition marking sculptor Georgi Chapkanov's 80th anniversary will be unveiled here at the Anel Gallery on Thursday evening, the organizers said. They said it is difficult to determine whether the artist's contribution is greater in public art with his numerous works in urban environments, or in small sculpture, which he started exploring as a genre in the 1970s.

The exhibition entitled Plastics and Graphics is comprised of 40 sculptures and 40 drawings, which include both Chapkanov's earliest works from the 70s, made of chamotte, and his latest works created with bronze.

The artist created a series of lithographs especially for the exhibition.
