The weekend programme of Varna Summer Fest features the last performances part of the Tradition and Universalism in the Music of Spain International Symposium. These are a concert on Saturday, and a piano recital and an ensemble instrumental on Sunday. 

On Saturday, September 2, the works by four eminent Spanish composers who lived and worked in the second half of 19th century and beginning of the 20th will be presented in one impressive programme. It includes one of the most famous and technically appealing pieces for violin - Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy, music by Enrique Fernandez Arbos (virtuoso violinist and one of Spain’s greatest composers of that time), who is rarely performed in Bulgaria, and a piano quartet and piano quintet by two of the important for the formation of Spanish school composers – Joaquin Turina and Enrique Granados. The concert starts at 7 pm. 

On Sunday, September 3, festival goers can enjoy a piano recital starting 12 pm by Luis Gonzalez Llado who will perform pieces by Antonio Soler (Fandango), Isaac Albéniz (Rondeña – Almería – Triana; Iberia. II Buch), Manuel de Falla (Hommage pour le Tombeau de Debussy), Tomás Marco (Soleá), Jesús Torres (Nada; Goya – Grabados I). In the evening at 7 pm, Ensemble Instrumental de Cantabria ENSEIC with conductor Esteban Sanz will perform pieces by Spanish composers from the second half of XIX and beginning of XX century such as Manuel de Falla and Francisco Barbieri together with Tomas Marco, who was born in 1942 and has studied under Boulez and Stockhausen.
