World-Famous Soprano Pendatchanska to Perform in Pleven on July 4

World-famous opera prima Alexandrina Pendatchanska is giving a concert in Pleven (North Central Bulgaria) on Monday evening. The concert titled That's Me marks 34 years of the opera diva's career. She will be accompanied by the Pleven Philharmonic under the baton of Maestro Nayden Todorov, director and principal conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic.

The venue is the Saglasie 1869 Chitalishte. The singer will perform favourite arias by Verdi, Rossini and Bizet. The concert will feature soprano Ralitsa Bogdanova.

Pendatchanska was born into a family of renowned musicians and began studying piano at the Lyubomir Pipkov National School of Music when she was five. She graduated with a degree in piano and singing, studying the latter with her mother, the star soprano Valerie Popova.

Pendatchanska debuted at the age of 17 with Violetta's aria from Verdi's La Traviata at a gala concert in Sofia. Two years later she made her opera stage debut as Lucia di Lammermoor in Bilbao. She won prestigious awards at competitions around the world. Her repertoire comprises more than 70 roles. Since 2003, she has been in active collaboration with conductor Rene Jacobs.

In recent seasons Pendatchanska has performed in Munich, Berlin, Brussels, Vienna, Copenhagen, Lyon, Toronto, Naples, Aix-en-Provence, Madrid, Hamburg, Santa Fe, Tokyo, Warsaw, Baden-Baden, Toulon, Avignon and Moscow.
