site.btaDanube Day in Bulgaria to Be Marked by Festivals, Environmental Activities
Festivals, workshops, environmental activities, concerts, and exhibitions are part of the initiatives which will mark Danube Day on June 29, Vesela Komarevska from the Danube Region Basin Directorate told BTA on Tuesday.
On June 29th of each year, the 14 countries of the Danube River Basin jointly celebrate one of Europe's greatest river systems, along with its people and the wildlife that rely on it. Bulgaria makes no exception with various events organized in different settlements located along the Danube River in 2022.
In Vidin, traditional concerts are being prepared.
In Lom, a large-scale campaign promoting separate waste collection will take place. The event aims to prevent waste pollution of the Danube and its tributaries.
There will be bike rides and educational activities on the riverbank in the village of Dolni Tsibar.
In Kozloduy, a fish festival and a workshop for making colour panels from plastic caps will take place. There will also be a sturgeon fish stocking.
Bird watching and river water sampling will take place in the village of Baykal, .
Art and music competitions will be held in Nikopol. There will be a kite flying competition, as well.
In Belene, there will be a festival. Its programme includes concerts and different activities for children and grown-ups.
A campaign under the motto "Let's clean Danube together" will take place in Svishtov.
The State Opera in Ruse has organized a concert dedicated to the Danube River. Educational initiatives, other concerts and quizzes will take place in the city.
In Silistra, there will also be a festive programme.
