In recent days, the National Water Board has been working in two key areas - addressing current problems and water shortages, and implementing preventive measures to avoid future crises, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov, who also chairs the Board, told a press conference.
As an example, Zafirov pointed to the city of Veliko Tarnovo, where, in his words, there is no need to introduce water rationing. However, now is the time to take long-term measures to ensure that in the future there will be sufficient water not only for the city and the municipalities supplied by the Yovkovtsi Reservoir, but for the entire region. He assured that meetings would continue nationwide, wherever water-related issues have been identified.
In recent days, Zafirov, along with Regional Development Minister Ivan Ivanov and Environment Minister Manol Genov, held meetings in response to water shortages in Breznik, Veliko Tarnovo, and Pleven.
