Celebrations for one year since the election and enthronement of Patriarch Daniil begin on Monday with a solemn holy liturgy in the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church-Bulgarian Patriarchate (BOC-BP) said.
After that, the celebrations will continue with an all-night vigil at the Rila Monastery by decision of the Holy Synod of the BOC-BP.
On July 1, when the translation of the relics of the St John of Rila is celebrated at the Rila Monastery, there will be a holy liturgy and the ordination of Archimandrite John (Peshev) as Bishop of Branitsa, followed by a prayer service for Patriarch Daniil.
On June 30, 2024, Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin was elected Bulgarian Patriarch and Sofia Metropolitan by the delegates of the Patriarchal Electoral Church Council.
The new Bulgarian Patriarch was elected in a runoff between Metropolitan Grigoriy of Vratsa and Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin.
