During a discussion entitled "The Educational Structure in the School Education System" organized by the Education Ministry here on Thursday, Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev said that it has been nine years since the Pre-school and School Education Act was enacted, which is enough time to conduct an analysis.
The Minister reported that some 92,000 pedagogical specialists work in Bulgaria.
Prof. Nikolay Popov, who reads Comparative Education at Sofia University, presented the educational structure in 37 countries. There is a huge diversity of school types in Europe. Bulgaria is the only country in Europe to have primary education last seven years. Educational structures are extremely diverse, and there is no tendency for uniformity within the EU, the expert concluded.
The forum hosted by the National Sports Academy Vassil Levski saw participation from MPs, school principals, teachers, professors, experts from the Ministry of Education and from regional departments of education, social partners.
