Kostadin Kostadinov, leader of Vazrazhdane, said in Parliament Wednesday that his party is working towards early elections and aims to become the leading political force in order to prevent the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria.

Regarding Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria's declared intention to move a vote of no confidence in the government, Kostadinov said that Vazrazhdane will support any such vote and would vote in favour of the government's resignation, but will not sign a joint motion alongside CC-DB.

“We will carry out a permanent boycott not only of prices currently displayed in euros, but also after January 1,” Kostadinov said. In his words, the eurozone is a “pyramid” which Bulgaria is joining without genuine desire.

The European Commission and the European Central Bank have confirmed that Bulgaria meets all the necessary criteria to adopt the euro on January 1, 2026. Their assessments, released Wednesday, emphasize Bulgaria’s stable economy and readiness for integration, with formal EU approval processes to follow.

Earlier on Wednesday, Continue the Change Co-Chair Kiril Petkov said the positive euro convergence report will not change the party's intention to submit a motion of no confidence against the Cabinet after the exact date of Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone is revealed.
