site.btaPM Zhelyazkov: ECB and EC Positive Assessments on Euro Adoption Readiness Confirm Bulgaria's Progress, But Work Continues


Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said in a post on the social network X on Wednesday that “the positive assessments from the European Central Bank and the European Commission confirm our progress, but the work continues.”
“This is the result of years of reforms, commitment and coordination with our European partners,” the Prime Minister added.
“A remarkable day. Another step forward on Bulgaria's path to the euro,” Zhelyazkov said.
The European Commission announced Wednesday that it has concluded that Bulgaria is ready to adopt the euro as of January 1, 2026.
Also on Wednesday, the European Central Bank said it assesses in positive terms Bulgaria’s readiness to join the eurozone from the beginning of 2026.
Тhe Bulgarian Government approved Wednesday the establishment of a national coordination mechanism to oversee the monitoring and control processes related to the country’s upcoming adoption of the euro.
