Commenting on a Constitutional Court's decision to assign the Central Election Commission (CEC) with carrying out a nationwide recalculation of the results of the October 27, 2024 parliamentary elections, BSP-United Left Deputy Leader Kiril Dobrev said the important message is that Bulgaria's institutions are working and no one can steal the elections. Dobrev was speaking to journalists in Parliament on Thursday.

He said that Court’s ruling is not to be commented but to be implemented. In his words, the responsibility for that lies with the CEC.

He also said that this is a test for the current Government majority and expressed hope that it would be preserved. “Bulgaria doesn't need elections right now, but rather a budget and stable governance,” Dobrev said. According to him, the BSP has no reason to fear elections, as it has new leadership and a renewal process within the party.
