Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria Co-Chair and former finance minister Assen Vassilev commented for bTV statements made by the incumbents about the financial situation after he was minister. Vassilev said that there are no "timebombs", as the deficits and expenses are made year after year.
Vassilev also said that the draft budgets that have been proposed in recent years have always had a higher deficit than 3%. "My team and I have managed to achieve a deficit below 3% in order to meet the criteria for the eurozone. This is not magic, there are no "timebombs" set," he noted.
Vassilev added that in 2021, the set deficit was 4.4%, and the actual one achieved was 3%. In 2022, a budget with a deficit of 5.1% was proposed, and the actual one was 2.9%. A deficit of 6.4% was proposed in 2023, but 2% was actually realized. A deficit of 3% was set for 2024, and that's what was realized, he pointed out.
