Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) Co-Floor Leader Nadejda Iordanova addressed Parliament here on Thursday, expressing her views on the Zhelyazkov cabinet. She said that the parliamentary group will monitor carefully any deviation from Bulgaria's European path and the rule of law.
Iordanova added that there is a paradox in the presented governance agreement as it contains all the principles of liberal democracy, but at the same time there are participants in the governing majority who violate them.
In the agreement for the governance of the country are stated priorities such as the rule of law, competitive economy, security and protection of citizens, but there is no governance programme yet, she said and added that Zhelyazkov has stated that there will be one in 30 days.
"We will closely monitor whether the stated policies will be adequate to the set priorities," the CC-DB Co-Floor Leader stressed. She added that the agreement lacked "an entire section or at least several points that guaranteed that the ruling majority would make every effort and all actions to exclude the illegitimate influence of [MRF - New Beginning Floor Leader] Delyan Peevski and his parliamentary group in all public institutions."
"We will pay special attention to how the next members of the Supreme Judicial Council and the regulators will be elected," Iordanova underlined. She said that the parliamentary group will monitor whether the principles of transparency of the procedures will be respected to ensure the neutrality and high moral qualities of the cabinet members.
"We will support the path to the euro, energy independence, the modernization of the army, the clear geopolitical direction of the country, the creation of conditions for a competitive economy and economic growth, the support of people and businesses," Iordanova listed.
"CC-DB will be opposition, we will be consistent, we will work for the modernization and strengthening of institutions," she also said.
