site.btaUPDATED BSP – United Left Prepares for Cabinet - Formation Talks
BSP – United Left Co-Floor Leader Borislav Gutsanov appeared on the morning show of the national television to talk about the coalition’s possible role in the talks for the formation of a government that GERB are starting.
"We cannot support a political cabinet of GERB. If we are talking about an expert, programmatic cabinet, then maybe. Tomorrow this will be discussed at a meeting of the BSP national council, and we will see if there will be a mandate for negotiations," he said.
Gutsanov reiterated that for the Socialists the leader of GERB Boyko Borissov is unacceptable as prime minister, and that expert figures, equally distant from the parties, should be sought to head the ministries.
"We political leaders need to realize that political egos need to take a step back. We managed to do that with the election of Parliament Chair," Gutsanov said.
According to him, the formations should sit down and first talk about the priorities for the country's development, look for the points of contact and see what the issues are that each party will not back down from.
Gutsanov added that for BSP - United Left these priorities are a social state and social peace, the accessibility of healthcare, and the development of energy.
Speaking in the studio of Nova TV, acting BSP Chair Atanas Zafirov said that whether the BSP will participate in the governance in some form will be decided by the collective bodies.
"Bulgaria needs a non-partisan, pro-Bulgarian government that will set the direction and the path of development of our country and it will be on a programme with a clear horizon - 4 years, so that there is sustainability and stability. Whether and in what form the BSP will participate in such a governance will be decided by our collective bodies," he said.
"We received the letter with fixed dates between December 16 and 20. The meeting of the National Council on Sunday will decide on the issue, a group should be nominated and a mandate given for talks," the socialist said. He added that before the meetings begin, it would be good for the first and second parties in the National Assembly to meet and set the tone and the goal. "Only then could we, with the status of the fifth political force, engage in such talks," he said. According to Zafirov, these meetings should create a horizon and should be as public as possible.
