site.btaUPDATED GERB Leader: In This Parliament Small Parties Are As Important as Large One in Securing Majority
GERB’s leader Boyko Borissov said Wednesday that “with the configuration in the current Parliament, the small parties are as important as the large party in securing a majority”. He was speaking after his party met with BSP-United Left and There Is Such a People as part of a political shuttle aimed at securing a majority in the new legislature and discussing legislative priorities.
Borissov said he offered a pragmatic approach: “policies, people to bear the responsibility via a government and a majority to back the entire legislative programme”.
"I will not loan my party, If I do not get enough support. I am protecting my party," the GERB leader said in the corridors of Parliament.
Borissov argued that the proposal to start with a legislative programme is not appropriate because, as seen in previous National Assemblies, such an approach leads to "monsters". “Everyone I talked to this morning puts finance as the biggest problem, as well as the economy and water shortage,” he said.
