Dozens Join March against Human Trafficking in Sofia

Dozens took part in a peaceful march against human trafficking for labour and sexual exploitation in Sofia. Organizers of the international initiative "Walk for Freedom", which has taken place in Bulgaria since 2014, are A21 Campaign on the occasion of October 18, the EU Anti-Trafficking Day. 

Participant carried placards saying: "Together We Can End Human Trafficking", "Human Trafficking is Illegal trade in Human Beings" and "Let's Abolish Slavery. Everywhere, forever".

Ahead of the start of the march, Bulgarian and foreign volunteers, as well as families, explained about the initiative and the message of the event. They handed out information leaflets materials and T-shirts with the slogans "Walk for Freedom" and "Stop Slavery Today". 

Marches were also held in other Bulgarian cities, including Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Pleven, Plovdiv and Stara Zagora. 

In Bulgaria, the number of victims of human trafficking in 2023 is 89, and 55 since the beginning of 2024.
