"Sofia is on the verge of a transport and energy chaos. The freezing of the accounts of the Public Transport Service and the Sofia heating utility company shows not just poor management, but a deliberate political game by GERB", said Vazrazhdane Sofia Municipal Councilor Deyan Nikolov in a statement on Friday. "The city is hostage to these manipulations, and Sofia residents pay the price of deliberately created crises", the statement continued.

The statement comes as a response to the public gas supplier Bulgargaz distraining the bank accounts of the Sofia heating utility company on Thursday, and the freezing of the bank accounts of Sofia's city bus company Stolichen Avtotransport on Wednesday.

According to Nikolov, CC-DB also bear responsibility, as they slept through the problem and allowed the situation to develop to this point. "Their managerial inability to deal with the financial instability of these companies shows a lack of coordination and an inability to protect the interests of the people of Sofia", said the statement.
