After a meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, Dragomir Stoynev, one of the candidates of the BSP for Bulgaria Coalition for Bulgarian European Commissioner, said that if the Bulgarian candidates for European Commissioner are announced after a debate in the National Assembly, and not determined by a caretaker government, this will be a sign of state responsibility and a signal of stability sought by Bulgaria towards its European partners, quoted the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) press centre on Thursday.

The conversation with Dimitar Glavchev was constructive, with a mutual understanding of the importance of the choice to be made, Stoynev said after the meeting. The BSP relies on this understanding to be realized by the leaders of the parliamentary groups, who will initiate an extraordinary convening of the National Assembly. BSP has taken steps for this, he noted.

This composition of the European Commission will work in a challenging time, Stoynev argued, explaining that the challenge is not only in terms of political situation, but also in terms of dynamics of new technological and environmental realities, which directly affect financial systems, economies and people's social well-being. "The Union must seek new balances in its economic, environmental and political strategies to preserve social stability. Inequalities are a fact, no matter how much effort is made to erase them. This means that a much stronger cohesion is probably needed between the individual policies of the European Union with attention to their impact on people," he said.

BSP consider social policy, energy, regional development as strategic areas in which Bulgaria could present a European commissioner. These are departments with a lot of potential for achieving stability, balancing the serious disparities within the Union.
