In its resolution on the preparations for the elections to the 51st National Assembly, the National Council of the Yes, Bulgaria! party notes the deepening of the political crisis and its transformation into a danger of the collapse of the political system and a threat to the established democratic model of a parliamentary republic. The resolution adopted on August 18 was made public on Monday by the party's press centre.

The document stresses the accumulation of foreign policy challenges in the field of security; the rise of dangerous populism, both in political and public life, as well as in individual state institutions; the inability of political parties to find the solution to the above challenges; the inability to proceed with the replenishment of the judiciary and regulators with expired mandates in a way that generates public confidence and guarantees independence and the implementation of the necessary reforms.

The national council considers that the main task of Yes, Bulgaria! is to find solutions to these problems by stabilizing the political system and forming a pro-European, anti-corruption and reformist majority, and by governing along an ambitious development programme based on the listed national priorities, the resolution said.

The party’s executive council shall develop and present to the national council a strategy for participation in the elections to the 51st National Assembly aimed at maximizing the consolidation of the pro-European and pro-reform vote in the centre-right.

To this end, and in continuation of the mandate given in June 2024, the national council instructs the executive to hold talks with its partners Continue the Change (CC) and Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria (DSB) to establish that there is a common ambition for a high electoral result based on a shared vision and strategy of the key success factors.

The national council assigns a team composed of Nadezhda Yordanova, Ivaylo Mirchev and Bozhidar Bozhanov, as well as substitute members - Yana Todoranova and Alexander Simidchiev, to complete by August 27 negotiations with the partners on the following issues:

- Readiness to complete the negotiations on the framework agreement proposed by Yes, Bulgaria! for the formation of a confederation of parties with common strategic goals at the level of Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB);

- Readiness to conclude the negotiations on the framework agreement proposed by Yes, Bulgaria! to build up Democratic Bulgaria as a leading entity in the centre-right space;

- Election programme;

- Governance formula based on the practice of the 50th National Assembly and the project proposed by the executive council of Yes, Bulgaria!;

- A renewed mechanism for completing the lists in order to maximize the electoral result by applying the principle of meritocracy. The negotiating team is mandated to negotiate such a mechanism on the basis of the concrete proposals developed by the executive council of Yes Bulgaria! and taking into account the organizational readiness of the partners.

The executive council is to report by August 27 on the results of the negotiations in order to take a final decision on the way the party will run in the upcoming snap elections, and on the work its representatives will be doing if elected.
