Police officers in Razgrad discovered a drug hothouse for growing marijuana, said on Thursday Iliyana Georgieva, spokesperson of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Razgrad.

During the police investigation, a 26-year-old man tested positive for marijuana, with a subsequent search of the person's property revealing a textile rectangular tent with a metal structure and foil insulation, adapted as a drug greenhouse for growing marijuana. Seven pots with hemp plants weighting 3.520 kg were found in the tent, Georgieva pointed out. During the search in the same property, firearm ammunition were also found, which were seized as material evidence in the pre-trial proceedings, which has been initiated in the case.

Based on testimony given by the detained man, officers also searched a property near the city of Razgrad, inhabited by a 42-year-old man. They found hemp plants weighting 9.35 kg, as well as seven jars, two paper packages and a carton with dry green vegetable mass. When tested with a field drug test, all detected and seized quantities of dry plant matter tested positive for marijuana. The total amount of narcotic substances that was seized amounts to 14.5 kg of marijuana, said Georgieva.
