BSP for Bulgaria Floor Leader Borislav Gutsanov Friday commented on President Rumen Radev's appointment of the Bulgarian National Audit Office Vice-President as caretaker prime minister, saying: "If the President believes that Goritsa Grancharova-Kozhareva can act as caretaker prime minister, we assume that she will form the required cabinet."
Gutsanov told reporters: "What matters to us is to have fair and honest elections because this is the main function of the caretaker cabinet." He recalled that at Thursday's consultations with the President, the Socialist MPs raised the issue of the nomination of a Bulgarian Commissioner, as the deadline is August 30.
Answering a question, Gutsanov said no one had asked the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) to propose caretaker ministers, adding that this is the prime minister's right.
Commenting on GERB leader Boyko Borissov's statement earlier in the day that "when we elected her [Goritsa Grancharova-Kozhareva] to the Audit Office, she was the BSP's nominee," Gutsanov said she was voted in office in 2015 by GERB, the Reformist Bloc and the Patriotic Front on the latter's proposal.
