Sofia University ranks 267th in the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2025, published on July 9, 2024. In the same ranking, Sofia University is in 17th place when it comes to universities in Eastern Europe, said the university on its website.

Sofia University is among the first 40% of the 685 European universities admitted to the ranking.

Universities are ranked according to their results in the following categories: research and discovery; employability and outcomes; learning experience; global engagement; and sustainability.

In the first edition of the ranking, published in 2023, Sofia University was in 272nd place.
