At the invitation of Mongolia's Ambassador in Sofia Lkhagvasuren Sayanaa, Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil attended a solemn reception at the Mongolian Embassy on the occasion of the country's national day, the Bulgarian Patriarchate said on its website on Thursday.
"His Holiness the Patriarch was congratulated by Her Excellency on his election and enthronement as primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. For his part, Patriarch Daniil laid an emphasis on the fine relationship between Bulgaria and Mongolia and expressed a desire for more joint meetings, talks and initiatives between the diplomatic corps and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church," the announcement reads.
It specifies that "His Majesty King Simeon II, a number of politicians, ambassadors and public figures attended the solemn function".
At the reception, Patriarch Daniil was accompanied by the Secretary General of the Holy Synod, Bishop Gerasim of Melnik.
On June 30, Metropolitan Daniil of Vidin was elected Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia by the delegates of a Patriarchal Electoral Church Council.
