A large part of the Bulgarian population has Undecided or positive attitude towards Russia, said Ruslan Stefanov, Programme Director at the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD). He was speaking Monday at the opening of an international conference on foreign interference and manipulation of information, organized by the CSD and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria. According to Stefanov, this also reveals a lot about the state of political debate in the country, or rather the lack of leadership in this direction.

There is no other development model that respects human rights, fights for better governance and against corruption like the European one, Stefanov said. The right of the stronger is something that Russia and China preach, he added.

In Stefanov’s words, the latest Eurobarometer data show that Bulgaria remains "one of the staunchest supporters of Russia and its rule".
