Cabinet Signs Agreement for Funding Domestic Violence Hot Line for Another Year

The government said Tuesday that it had signed an agreement for funding a hot line for domestic violence for another year. The hot line will be operated by Animus Association, which has been helping the victims of domestic violence or people at risk for ten years now, said the government press office.

It is the country's only hot line which uses government funding to provide social, legal and psychological support for the victims of domestic violence and their relatives.

Over 2,800 people called the hot line numbers (0800 1 8676 and 02 981 7686) and 81% of them were women victims of violence in their own home.

Under the agreement that was signed Tuesday, Animus Association will get BGN 64,800 for the next 12 months to keep the hot line open round-the-clock.
