The Bulgarian Council for Economic Analyses (BCEA) will present on Monday the results of its own research on local job multipliers in Bulgaria, the press service of the Council of Ministers said. The findings will be presented at 10:30 a.m. at the Council of Ministers.
Study authors are Plamen Nenov, member and secretary of BCEA, and Rada Pavlova, junior associate at the Council.
"The local job multiplier measures the total increase in local employment resulting from the addition of one job to the local labor market. Given the large and persistent imbalances in the level of employment and economic activity across the country, the values of these multipliers are key to implementing effective regional economic development measures," the press release said.
"The estimated job multipliers for Bulgaria show that the implementation of economic policies aimed at reducing regional imbalances can contribute to increasing employment and economic activity in the country. Therefore, the main policy recommendation of the analysis is to follow a regionalised economic development strategy based on the differences in local multipliers in the country," the study said, quoted by the government information service.
The BCEA consists of internationally recognized economists with academic credentials to assess the challenges facing the Bulgarian economy and make policy proposals to address them. It has an advisory function.
