On Tuesday, the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) Supervisory Board will decide to update pensions by 11%, said GERB deputy floor leader Denitsa Sacheva on Facebook, in response to Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria's earlier demand to convene an extraordinary sitting of Parliament due to the NSSI draft report, according to which pensions will only be raised by 10% instead of 11%. 

"And people will get their money to the penny. And money cannot be stolen from pensioners," Sacheva said, adding that the NSSI budget cannot be used to donate to the state budget. [CC co-leader] Assen Vassilev is a political speculator. He has always been such and unfortunately he is costing all Bulgarians extremely dearly, Denitsa Sacheva wrote in response to Vassilev's allegations that the NSSI is trying to steal BGN 100 million from Bulgarian pensioners, she further said.

During the upcoming meeting of the NSSI Supervisory Board, which will be held on 14 May 2024, it is within the rights of the Minister of Labour to propose to the National Assembly an increase of 11%, as stipulated under the Public Social Insurance Budget Act, to be adopted," Sacheva added. 

This happens absolutely every year. The NSSI administration proposes a text that exactly implements the law, and the political decision is taken by the NSSI Supervisory Board and it is usually in line with the framework given by the Public Social Insurance Budget, Sacheva explained.

There is no need for any extraordinary sessions of the National Assembly for something that is within the competence of the NSSI Supervisory Board and will happen regardless, she said.
