site.btaSofia Mayor: Ukrainian Flag Will Fly Alongside Bulgarian, European Flags at Town Hall

In a Facebook post Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev wrote that meeting Ukraine Ambassador Olesya Ilashchuk he has pledged that the Ukrainian flag will fly at the town hall alongside the Bulgarian and European flags, while Ukrainian men and women defend European values and way of life based on freedom and human dignity.   

For two years Ukraine has been defending its people, borders and dignity from a barbaric invasion. Russia is the aggressor and is responsible for the unprovoked and brutal war against Ukraine, Terziev said. In his words, the Kremlin regime has destroyed peace and tried to revise the international order by force. 

Terziev said that currently about 5,000 Ukrainian citizens are living in Sofia alone. “I hope that soon Ukraine will be a peaceful and free country again,” the Mayor said. He added that the people of Sofia will continue to support those displaced from their homes by the war until it is possible for them to return to their homeland.
